![]() ![]() At that point CA has 3 options: ignore the complaints (which will not look good), remove the faction (which will piss off everyone), or turn them into a “full” faction with everything that implies (LL, unique mechanics, balanced start, probably unique units, etc) which will just add to major faction bloat and defeat the purpose of making them playable in the first place. If CA makes, say, a random minor Orc tribe with no lore attached playable (or, say, Wittenberg in a hypothetical Empire 2, or whatever), most players are going to assume it’s intended to be a fully fleshed out race on the same level as Tyrion or Franz (or Prussia or whatever.) They will of course be disappointed instead of seeing it as a bonus goodie intended for a very small minority of the player base, they’ll see it as A-list content that was poorly executed and complain endlessly. Thing is players like you and I are in the minority. If you have recommendations for mods regarding that, feel free to share. I know there were some mods that allow that, but last time I checked the techtree/research was kind of messed up. Feels like it will allow for much greater replayability. Kind of the same thing with warhammer, sure 90% of the people will probably don't care, but will it be that hard to have a button to toggle selection of minor factions ?Ĭurrently I play WH2 (dont have 3 yet), and I wish I could just chose to play with any of the elven (or other races really), not the few provided to us by the devs. One of the (few) gripes I had with Shogun 2 was the huge amount of clans you had on the map, but vast majority were unplayable just because. It will be nice, just for the different starting positions and neighbours you have to deal with. ![]() I don't get why we don't have the option to play as one of the elector counts (or any other filler faction), even if they don't have any special mechanics (or just copy paste main faction mechanics), quests or make zero sense lore wise. I miss that in newer titles, especially in warhammer. Ive been playing total war since OG Shogun and one of the things I enjoyed in the earlier titles (like med1) was that you could play as (almost) any faction you chose, even though the "main" ones were but a few.
